We are so excited that our chicks have hatched! The children can’t wait to have a hold of them later this week!
A big thank you to Farmer Jess for coming along to talk to our children in a whole school assembly about life on her farm. The talk was in aid of British Science week and was based on the theme ‘growth’. Farmer Jess talked to the children about her dairy cows and how milk is produced and the process of milking cows to the milk arriving in the supermarket. The children enjoyed asking lots of questions!
We had a fabulous World Book Day celebration on Thursday 3rd March 2022! The staff all came dressed as one of the characters from Snow White and welcomed to children with a rendition of ‘Hi Ho, Hi Ho’!
A huge thank you to Derbyshire Police for coming along to Street Lane Primary during our online safety week to hold talks with key stage 1 and key stage 2 on online safety. The talks took place at the end of online safety week so the children were able to really impress our police officer with all of their knowledge of keeping themselves safe online!
A great time was had by all at our valentine disco. Take a look at the fun we all had!
Each class enjoyed their online safety themed creative learning workshop by Konflux Theatre today.
Wakey Shakey Wednesday arrived at Street Lane Primary School this week. All staff were ready to welcome the children with a dance to get everyone active, feeling great and ready for our day’s learning. Feedback from the children has been really positive and there were lots of smiley, happy faces. The dancing even continued during lunch time. Be ready for next Wednesday everyone!
In Reception and Key Stage 1, we have been having lots of fun in our forces topic this term. Take a look at our investigation where we investigated the effect of moving jelly cubes different surfaces, including oil.
In year 3 and 4 this term, we are learning about electricity in science. We were given different components and asked to work out how to make a bulb light. Then, we were asked to investigate how to make a bulb brighter. We also learnt how to draw a series circuit with a key to show the correct symbols for each component.
We are taking part in the RSPB Big School Birdwatch this year. During January each class is going to spend some time in our school garden observing the birds that come to visit. Our Ducklings will be making bird feeders to try to encourage more birds to visit. This is a lovely opportunity for our children to learn about local wildlife and to identify the different birds that are commonly seen at this time of year. We will send some information home with the children if you would like to take part at home as well. Enjoy birdwatching!
Thank you Santa for finding the time to come and have Christmas dinner with us. We know how busy you are in December but we loved visiting you in our grotto after our Christmas Performance and seeing you at Christmas dinner was a fantastic surprise. Thank you for the Christmas presents you brought us. We can’t wait for Christmas Day!
